Biopsy
A biopsy is a procedure where a sample of tissue is obtained from the body so that it may be viewed under a microscope to determine its characteristics.  The most common reason is to see if a tumor or mass in the body is due to cancer.

Interventional Radiologists are able to biopsy tissue in most areas of the body using small needles to obtain the tissue.  The needle placements are guided by medical imaging such as CT, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy (motion x-ray), and MRI.  In this way answers can be found with minimal discomfort and minimal risk.  See the link below for a more detailed discussion of this important technique.
